Driving What’s Next:
UNLEASHING
POSSIBILITIES

Point. Click. Touch. Swipe. Zoom.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
We reach for everything we want – from data, memories, stories, and more – with the touch of our fingertips. We connect, transact, create, and curate, all through the power of technology and the Internet, the tool that has forever changed the world as we know it.
[/vc_column_text][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][vc_column_text]
These realities impact education today. De La Salle Lipa rode these “waves” with the hope of rousing students, partners, and society to become change agents. Innovation, in this sense, has captivated Lasallians to become the best versions of themselves – hence the call to continue providing platforms that “unleash possibilities.” Possibilities that pave the way towards infinite opportunities.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][vc_column_text]
As we face and try these opportunities, we call to mind the human touch. We believe in the power of touching hearts. We never lose contact with our “being”. At the end of the day, we look at our individual aspirations, come together with our common mission, and gear for the greater good.

From the
PRESIDENT

[/vc_column_text][us_separator type=”invisible”][vc_column_text]
What would the next 100 years be like? How are our educational institutions addressing the future.  What kind of education do we want to see in the 21st century as our communities evolve? As our world evolve?
When we talk about 21st century education, we are talking of revisiting our mission – what is the role of the school in the development of individuals, and, in a larger sense – the development of the world.
We have to continue to engage with our people. As we move forward, we grow in this together and we have to see how we help each other.  As we move forward and grow, everybody grows together and nobody is left behind.
We want to see an inclusive growth as we progress, we will be able to bring them together (in that growth) – as a result of that direction – and no school has done this – we put up an across-the-board PhP 55 Million Pesos increase in salaries and compensation, in total.  This is not about money, this is about taking care of people and bringing people to a level where they need not to worry about the economics – but rather to concentrate on the work that God has asked us to do.
We are providing good health services.  Now we have an ambulance, a dedicated Emergency Medical Team (EMT), but these are just steps towards a holistic approach to creating a smart campus, to creating a campus that is livable, that is safe and secured.
We cannot grow at the expense of the planet.  When we talk of inclusive societies, we have to talk of sustainable societies.
When we hinge our directions to the (United Nations) Sustainable Development Goals, we indicate that we are part of this greater world, and, our mission is not apart from the rest of the world, from the rest of humanity, from the rest of the planet.
When we changed our Mission Statement, and when we deliberately adopted the sustainable development goals, I think we have adopted universal values.  These are values we know appeal to other people. This not just about cosmetic change.  This is about really our commitment to do the work of God and build the kingdom of God.
There are many who share this mission.  There are many who share in the belief that education is the great equalizer. And hopefully, as we move forward, many will join in this quest to make our schools like what De La Salle dreamt: where our children live in a world that is safe, inclusive, where growth is inclusive, where the planet is taken cared of, and, where future generations are regarded in the decisions we make today.

Social Innovation
in Quality Education

The power to see things differently

Seeing things differently entails empathy. With a good grasp of various perspectives, we transform learning and drive relevant 21st century learning.
We also delve onto real-world concerns to reimagine real-world solutions. In doing so, we are able to offer human and student-centric programs.
[/vc_column_text][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][us_separator type=”invisible”][vc_column_text]
Having witnessed the education scene transform through the years, De La Salle Lipa highly regards 21st century learning and skills, to include social innovation. Social innovation, new ideas (products, models, and services) simultaneously meeting social needs and creating new collaborations, render a huge part in the transformation and acceleration of education, as well as the preparation of students to become entrepreneurs and social innovators. We envision students becoming more equipped for the future – with the best tools, techniques, and systems readily available.
We hope to make a difference in the lives of our 21st century learners. Guided by our Mission-Vision, we are now integrating social innovation fundamentals in the curriculum – design thinking, futures thinking, project management, sustainability, social impact, stakeholder engagement, social entrepreneurship, and global issues – in the hopes of arming students to become highly competitive on a global scale and to become a valuable resource to their respective communities.

SMILES / 4-1 Program for Blended Learning
Promoting blended learning, the institution has also already started designating Wednesday as an online learning/open class day in support to the Synergized Mobile Integrated Learning Experience Self-Directed (SMILES) Program. Through this program, four days are allotted for face-to-face classroom interactions with teachers while one day (Wednesday) is for students to work on their respective Community-Based Action Projects Addressing Strategically Themed Learning Objectives through Networked Environments (CAPSTONE) initiatives.

Effective AY 2017-2018, social innovation fundamentals have been embedded on the curriculum of Grades 4 to 12. Through a thematic curriculum, subjects have specific themes infused in their course syllabus or learning modules (respect for the dignity of life and other values-oriented Lasallian values). At the end of the semester and school year, students come up with their own projects, Community-Based Action Projects Addressing Strategically Themed Learning Objectives through Networked Environments (CAPSTONE).

De La Salle Lipa believes in the power of the 21st century classroom, one that is student-centered and where teachers are not lecturers but facilitators of learning. Students are encouraged to learn by doing, where teachers act as coaches. Students are also honed to use the inquiry method while collaborating with their peers. In the end, DLSL aspires to develop lifelong learners, students who can then become active citizens contributing to society’s betterment.

Shared Humanity

The passion to build safer world

Our desire to nourish a safer and more secure second home for our partners and other stakeholders is ablaze.
We nurture each individual entrusted to our care. With inclusivity in mind, we encourage brotherhood. Each one matters.
No one is left behind.

The world keeps on changing by the minute. Individuals, families, and communities face various challenges – from poverty, hunger, unemployment, and more. Income inequality is rampant, especially in the Philippines, together with China, Indonesia, India, and the Russian Federation. With over 400 million people in Asia (one in ten) going through extreme income poverty, it takes intense passion and commitment to be an instrument of change in these people’s lives.
De La Salle Lipa takes on this challenge: to become focal in crafting solutions and applying these measures to heart.

Community-Based Action Projects Addressing Strategically Themed Learning Objectives through Networked Environments (CAPSTONE) have officially commenced this academic year. Grades 4 to 8 students addressed perennial problems within campus (waste management and energy consumption) while Grades 9 to 12 have been assigned in external partner communities to assess their status and concerns then come up with projects to address those community issues.
416 groups from 73 sections of Grades 9 to 12 were deployed at 103 puroks in Lipa City and San Jose, Batangas. Meanwhile, 12 out of 112 projects have been presented to the DLSL community through a colloquium.
To facilitate the implementation of the CAPSTONE, various guides and toolkits have been developed for the students and mentors. This is to ensure that the CAPSTONE implementation is consistent across all grade levels. Constant engagements with barangay officials are also being done to ensure that the CAPSTONE addresses priority areas identified.
There has also been an overwhelming show of support from parents, with the help of Parents Educators Nurturing Cooperation and Integrity La Salle Lipa (PENCIL), Inc. They have also agreed to take part in the CAPSTONE as parent-mentors.By the end of AY 2017-2018, best CAPSTONE awards have been given to one group per strand. This year, the winners include the following:

Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training
To provide Lasallian Partners and students with basic life support skills training, the Institutional Safety, Security, and Emergency Services Office (ISSESO) has once again spearheaded a Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training in preparation for potential crises. 100% of security personnel, in this regard, are trained as Medical First Responders (MFR).
Earthquake and Landslide Search and Rescue Orientation Course
Likewise, the ISSESO together with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) conducted a training on rescue operations through the Earthquake and Landslide Search and Rescue Orientation Course (ELSAROC). This course equipped the participants as they learned techniques on safety, search, rescue, and retrieval measures during earthquakes and landslides especially affecting collapsed structures.
First Responders to Fire Retrieval Operation in Lipa City
DLSL’s Security Team and Fleet were tapped as first responders to fire retrieval operation in the City of Lipa. ISSESO, in this regard, has increased security and safety protocols in all DLSL fleet vehicles and fully implemented the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPEs) by all skilled workers at all times.
Procurement of Automatic Emergency Defibrillator
To equip DLSL health and safety practitioners during emergency situations, an automatic emergency defibrillator was acquired. Through this portable electronic device, life-threatening cardiac conditions can be automatically diagnosed.
First Aid Training Seminar and Patient Handling for Concessionaire Staff
As part of the institution’s thrust to prepare various stakeholders in times of dire need (that to include health-related emergency situations), concessionaire staff took part in a first aid training and patient handling seminar on August 2, 2017.
Certification on Counter Terrorism
DLSL’s security personnel are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide the best services to the institution and the local community. With this, such personnel are continuously honing their skills through various training, part of which is on counter-terrorism. At present, 95% of DLSL’s security personnel are certified as Counter Terrorism Specialists.

Sustainable Futures

The ability to listen to planet

As we aspire to understand our planet more, we continue listening to its pleas. Knowing that we have a vital part in ensuring our home’s survival, we strive to keep it safe.
We commit to being stewards of God’s creations. We vow to pursue a legacy protecting every treasure that abounds the earth.
A daring call, yes – our answer to the world’s desperate cries.

How do we listen to our planet? Do we seek to understand its pleas for help? How sensitive are we to her needs? These are just some questions we have in mind as we ponder on our planet’s situation and life in all forms.
At De La Salle Lipa, we take the littlest matters to heart: from our sustainability partnerships, sustainable power source, PET bottle haul-out, and more. We hope that through these simple ways, we can uplift the communities we support – being agents of change for society’s betterment.

In our desire to leverage our capability to promote sustainability in campus, we have partnered with various organizations and individuals who have the passion to make this world a better place to live in.
TUV Rheinland, having established the pioneering certification body in the Philippines, has been engaged to conduct an electrical systems audit to future-proof the electrical infrastructure and to improve safety.
Meanwhile, Engineering interns have also been involved in an Internet of Things project to convert the solar lamp posts to smart systems.

The archdiocesan research initiative involving 64 parishes has already been accomplished. Its results have also been presented to the priests in the archdiocese in 2017.
This project involved the encoding of the profile of members of church organizations in the different parishes of the Archdiocese of Lipa. It helped prepare for the Pastoral Visitation of the Archbishop of Lipa in 2018. More than thirty (30) Lasallian Partners have volunteered in the task of encoding the quantitative and qualitative portions of the instrument. This will then be subjected to translation and interpretation by the ORP, through Ms. Ana Resurreccion, Dr. Joseph Ng, and Dr. Aldin Gonzales. Offices and colleges that have volunteered include the IS Guidance Office, CIHTM faculty, CBEAM faculty, Community Involvement Office, ILFO, Student Activities Office, Office of the Director for Student Services.

To nourish Lasallian Partners’ welfare and well-being, more initiatives have been spearheaded this recent academic year.
Breaking Down Silos
As a way to foster collaboration and the free flow of information, various programs and activities have been crafted for Lasallian Partners.
Brothers’ League
First was the implementation of the Brothers’ League, a program geared towards fostering camaraderie and collaboration and rooted on Lasallian saints’ outstanding characteristics. Community involvement and institutional activities were organized and headed by each legion.
Institutional Activity Hosting
Institutional activities have also been hosted for the past year. These include the following: Institutional General Assembly, Institutional Rest and Recreation, Organized Joy Day/Lasallian Fun Day, Institutional Christmas Party, Retirement Appreciation Activity, and Retirement Preparation Program.
Recollections
Moreover, several batches of recollections for LPs have also been conducted within campus from March to June 2018. A total of 593 LPs took part in the said recollections facilitated by Rev. Fr. Gerry Juarez.
Healthy Living
Healthy Food Options (Sodexo)
To offer healthy food options to LPs and students, DLSL has partnered with Sodexo On-Site Services Philippines, Inc., an international organization specializing in quality of life services. It opened its doors on January 29, 2018, occupying the 2 nd level of the Chez Rafael (for students) and Café Le Barako (for LPs and guests). The site features a Live Action Station, a stand-alone coffee shop, and the Culinary Corner. Sodexo advocates for healthy, safe, and nutritious food, as well as sustainability in its operations.
Exercise Clubs
In support to LPs’ healthy practices, the Human Resources Department headed Zumba and yoga sessions in campus. Interested partners have enrolled in the said programs taking place in a bi-weekly basis.

Interest Groups
Part of De La Salle Lipa’s initiatives to allow Lasallian Partners to showcase their skills and talents are interest groups. These are also avenues for them to mingle with each other and to relax through fun and productive activities. These include the Faculty and Staff Men’s Basketball Tournament, De La Salle Lipa Gardening Club, Lasallian Employees Organization of Food Enthusiasts, Dance Group, Zumba Movers, and Yoga.

Financial Wellness
Lasallian Partners also have the opportunity to receive financial wellness support in various modes. Some of the initiatives for this purpose were the financial literacy seminars for LPs by highly acclaimed financial guru Chinkee Tan last year. Two batches of partners attended these learning sessions in June and September 2017.

To hone Lasallian Partners’ knowledge and skills in their respective fields, retooling is continuously advanced. 45% of DLSL’s partners are NC certified, 13% of whom have National TVET Trainer Certificates. They can then serve as trainers when DLSL launches its TechVoc programs.

As part of De La Salle Lipa’s move of arming its Lasallian Partners to become global citizens, it continuously lines up opportunities for LPs’ involvement in internationalization. As a result, LPs are expected to get to know their role in the community and in the global arena. In this regard, they are called to take part in contributing to a fair, equal, and sustainable planet.
The school continues to send partners for overseas exposure and to establish partnerships with schools abroad.

To encourage Lasallian Partners to gain education through international travels (via attending seminars, conferences, benchmarking trips to foreign universities, industry immersions, and other academic activities), the Linkages and International Relations Directorate (LIRD) headed the passport renewal project for LPs.
According to the survey results, twenty-eight (28) out of one hundred nineteen (119) respondents have passports or are in-process. Almost half of the 91 respondents would have their applications for passport renewal in the next two to three months. Links and forms were sent to the concerned partners to fast-track the processing of their passports.

De La Salle Lipa’s alumni relations are “in full steam” as the institution has been partnering with its graduates in attaining its mission and vision. Several of the initiatives this year include the following: the 45M in 5 Scholarship Fund, awarding of the Semper Fidelis award to Batch 1965, and other alumni engagements.
45M in 5 Scholarship Fund
As part of alumni engagement and to support DLSL’s scholarship initiatives, the 45M in 5 Scholarship Fund was spearheaded. Through this fundraising project, DLSL will be equally matching a gift amount of Php1.5 million to create a Perpetual Endowment Fund of Php3 million under the name of the donor of which the interest will be used to sponsor a scholar from the Senior High School. It seeks to gather 30 donors among its alumni batches to bring together a total of Php45 million in a period of 5 years starting academic year 2017-2018.
Alumni Activities
Various alumni batches led their respective programs and activities in support to the institution’s mission and vision. For one, High School (HS) Batch 1992 (2017 silver jubilarians) established a Php500,000 endowment fund and sponsored a reunion for the retired faculty. Meanwhile, HS Batch 1964, as part of the Br. Stephen Rabisa Gift of Education, issued laptops to their scholars in regard to the needs of their scholars for such devices (in relation to the digital campus initiatives). The same batch likewise donated an additional $8,168 for their Br. Stephen Rabisa Gift of Education. HS Batch 1986, on the other hand, conducted a bloodletting drive as part of the Foundation Week Celebration activities.
Semper Fidelis Awardee
De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) High School (HS) Batch 1964 alumni received the prestigious Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful), an award given to a distinguished individual or group for inclusive excellence; exercising innovative and courageous leadership; serving as a visionary in his/her field; exemplifying the philosophy, principles, and practices of De La Salle Lipa; and contributing substantially to diversity and inclusive excellence in education.

The said batch, represented by Raul Vizconde, Juanito Castillo, Ricardo Leyesa, Manolo Relova, Willy Espiritu, and Lito Abad, was conferred a plaque, medal and an endowment fund of Php100,000 for several scholars.

Partnership with Industry Partners

In our aim to stir more like-minded individuals towards our goals and dreams, we have partnered with organizations and people in various sustainable enterprises through the DLSL Executive Workshop. Industries included Davao Thermo Biotech Corp., Solutions Using Renewable Energy (SURE) and Growell Bio-Organic Technology Corporation. This is also in support to our goal of increasing the number of institutional partnerships by 10% every year by AY 2021-2022.

One of the initiatives this year was the DLSL Executive Workshop on waste management, food security, livelihood, and energy held last February 20, 2018. This was attended by executives and C-suites from various companies in the Philippines.

DLSL as CPD Provider for CPAs

The Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) has likewise approved De La Salle Lipa’s application to be an accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider for CPAs and Professional Teachers. We will be offering CPD programs next school year.

Preliminary Meeting with PricewaterhouseCoopers

As DLSL gears for sustainability, it conducted a preliminary meeting with industry experts such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers to adopt the Global Reporting Initiative’s standards in understanding and communicating its impact on critical sustainability issues.[/ultimate_modal][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row us_bg_image=”13031″ us_bg_repeat=”no-repeat” us_bg_parallax=”vertical”][vc_column width=”1/2″][us_separator type=”invisible” size=”huge”][vc_column_text]

Financial Report

De La Salle Lipa’s financial position and results of operation are best shown through the audited financial statement certified by our External Auditors, Isla Lipana, and Co.
The School’s operation for the School Year 2017 – 2018 resulted in an excess of income over school expenses before tax of negative Php 26 million and Php 155 million from unrestricted and temporarily restricted activities, respectively.
A drop from last year’s Php 85 million total excess can be attributed to the decrease in revenue due to the impact of the K-12 program.
Operating activities generated Php 199 million due to movements in working capital which was used in investing activities of Php 165.08 million as an addition to fixed assets. Cash generated from investing activities can be attributed to the Php 44.44 million loan proceeds from local bank to finance the Digital Campus Initiatives.
