BRAFE Golf 12: One Big Shot for Education

October 2, 2017 marked the BRAFE GOLF 12, an annual golf tournament for the benefit of the Foundation for Sharing Lasallian Education (FSLE). This foundation aims to play golf for education since 2006 through the initiative of the benevolent Lasallian Brother, Br. Rafael “Brafe” Donato FSC (). This year’s competition was held at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club located at General Trias, Cavite. It was a successful tournament with 127 golfers who supported and joined the BRAFE core group to raise funds for the education of the FSLE scholars.

The registration started at 6:00 in the morning. Most of the golfers have registered already prior to the day of the competition, while some registered on the day itself. Upon arriving, they were welcomed at the main clubhouse where they dropped their tickets for the raffle and claimed their giveaways.

At around 1:20 in the afternoon, the golfers returned to the main clubhouse to have their lunch and prepare for the awarding ceremony. After the festive banquet, the program started with a prayer led by Br. Jun Estrellas FSC followed by the awarding of the winners of the raffle.

Afterwards, the head of the day’s event, Mr. Roy Pena, gave a short message, followed by Mr. Albert Garcia giving another message and presenting the current beneficiaries of FSLE specifically BRAFE scholars. On stage, Br. Jun Estrellas FSC received the half a million donation from the BRAFE core group. This was followed by Mr. Arvin Mantuano’s sharing of his experiences as a BRAFE scholar.

The program continued with the awarding of the major raffle prizes from the generous sponsors. Trophies and prizes were also granted to various divisions: Mens Division, Senior’s Division, Super Seniors Division, Ladies Division and the Championship Division. The program ended with the singing of the Alma Mater Song.

In the end, everyone went home with a smile on their faces. The golfers had a great time playing the sport as well as helping those who deserve a Lasallian education. The core group and the scholars are truly grateful to those who made the event possible.
